Practice questions on leadership and power

1. The government directed all Matatus to be members of Saccos. Assume members of the matatu Sacco have appointed you as their leader. What type of power would you use to lead them and why?
2. Anything we want to accomplish requires the use of some kind of power. Everyone has power, but often don’t recognize it. Explore how you can use your power to influence others to reach your goal.
a. Write a goal you would like to reach.
b. Write the names of three people who play a major role in your reaching that goal – for example, you may have to get permission, money or help from them to accomplish your goal.
c. What kind of power do you require in order to influence each of the three people to help you to realize your goal.
3. Identify and explain symbols of power used by some of the leaders you have interacted with.
